Important: This is a formula and positioning comparison, not a claim that one product produces better clinical outcomes. We found no published head-to-head trial of VisiVra versus PreserVision AREDS 2.

The decisive distinction is intended use

AREDS2 is not a generic “eye vitamin” concept. The National Eye Institute studied a specific formulation in people with particular stages of AMD. NEI states that people with no AMD or early AMD were not shown to benefit in the same way. A clinician is the right person to tell you whether AREDS2 applies to your diagnosis.

Why ingredient overlap can be misleading

VisiVra and AREDS2 share lutein, zeaxanthin and zinc as ingredient categories, but that does not make the formulas equivalent. AREDS2 also contains vitamin C, vitamin E and copper in stated amounts. VisiVra instead names bilberry, astaxanthin and vitamin A, and does not publish the active doses on the seller page we reviewed.

Decision framework

If a clinician has specifically instructed you to use an AREDS2 formula, compare any product label to the exact NEI formulation. If you are instead evaluating a general eye-wellness supplement, VisiVra belongs in a broader category—but you should still ask for exact doses.

Where VisiVra fits

VisiVra’s appeal is its mix of six named ingredients and simple eye-wellness positioning. Its main evaluation limitation is that the public sales page does not publish the amount of each active. If exact dose matching is central to your decision, that transparency gap matters more than marketing language.
